- Work directly with corporate automation team to implement new automation systems
- Program PLC, HMI, vision, robotic and other automated systems
- Ensure controls for all new equipment meet company and legal standards
- Ensure all data collection systems are in place and functioning properly
- Implement latest best practices
- Recommend and implement necessary improvements
- Identify improvement opportunities through automation or controls optimization
- Investigate and provide detailed reporting of cost saving opportunities
- Implement approved changes through trial to completion
- Analyze and summarize data to communicate outcomes
- Provide high level troubleshooting assistance
- Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematic reading
- Make equipment adjustments when necessary
- Ability to become a LOTO champion (expert knowledge of energy sources)
- Leader in the use of Stop 5 and other Plastic Omnium HSE initiatives
- Report HSE events and make improvement suggestions through continuous risk observations
- Stop production and shipments if a quality or HSE risk is identified
- Development and improvement of company processes and policies
- On the job training for machine, equipment and software updates
- Assist in the development of site maintenance team
- Serve in a backup capacity for IS&S
- Lead overall improvements to production processes (non-automation role)
- Bachelor's degree in mechatronics engineering or related field, or Associate's degree with equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience preferred
- Plastics or Automotive manufacturing preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the requirement for sponsorhip or transfer of Visa now, or at any time in the future
- Proficient with the installation and support of PC hardware and software
- Working knowledge of PLC's, HMI systems, networking and data acquisition systems
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, Access, Visio
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills
