- Safely manage capital projects and studies for Kingsport and other sites as assigned through all phases of the project in accordance with established schedules, budget, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate obtaining resources for TDE (Technical Design Effort), ensure resource availability for project implementation from concept to start-up. Direct the development of engineering documents required for various funding gates.
- Partner with Project Controls personnel to monitor, report, and document the progress of work, provide feedback on budget and schedule deviations, and communicate upcoming work projections.
- Work with multiple organizations to prepare and implement the project execution strategy.
- Provide direction to Project Team on schedule and cost-related issues, including recognition of critical issues and action on them to preclude project problems. Provide final approval of engineering documents.
- Partner with the Site Capital Coordinators and Project Controls personnel to develop annual capital plan including project prioritization. Manage annual capital expenditures versus the capital plan for the funding and operating organization(s).
- Interface with engineering and construction contractors, review and ensure Eastman compliance with contractor agreements. Ensure involvement of appropriate personnel in the development and implementation of capital projects from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM).
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of project plans and associated documents.
- Promote use of Eastman Capital Process and implement the appropriate WWE&C Capital Processes, (Value Improving Practice, Gates and Audits, Front-End Loading, etc).
- Ensure that best-value practices are used to establish project scope and to manage changes.
- Consider safety, cost, and schedule in overall project plan to ensure objectives are met at best overall value.
- Evaluate and report project performance and facilitate external benchmarking activities for assigned capital projects.
- Serve on and lead teams associated with work process improvement and project-related issues.
- Minimum of a BS degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- At least 5 years’ experience in various aspects of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) process or appropriate comparable experience.
- Solid understanding of the front-end-loading capital process, from project definition through plant start-up.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and team leadership skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and to implementing safe capital facilities.
- Must be able to travel as needed based on project needs. Travel is estimated at 20% but can exceed 50%.
