- Collects representative samples for laboratory analysis including mailing samples and data analysis of results. Works with Operations Manager to relay laboratory testing and discuss any concerns with processing constraints and product quality.
- Measures and records Temperature, oxygen, moisture, bulk density and porosity of compost product through all stages of processing. Schedules windrow turning, water application, modification of feed stock to meet minimum C:N ratio and bulk density requirements.
- Responsible for operating and troubleshooting ASP pads.
- Assists with Contamination Policy enforcement and controlling contamination through the process through manual labor, mechanical separation and scheduling transportation.
- Troubleshoots and corrects compost processing and mechanical systems when necessary. Responsible for establishing compost turner settings, grinder settings and screen settings to produce maximum quality compost product for the end use. Report more complicated issues to management to ensure timely correction.
- Manages and troubleshoots environmental systems (stormwater, leachate, odor) to ensure it continues to operate in accordance with safety standards, federal and state regulations.
- Performs compost surveying activities as required.
- Prepares and submits required reporting data relative to compost processing including influent and effluent volumes and other related systems.
- Conducts daily recordkeeping to site fuel use and balances.
- Site recordkeeping to track processing efficiencies, temperatures, odor investigation, weather station data, etc.
- Responsible for OMRI testing, reporting and licensure.
- Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance; ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Knowledge of, and ability to use, computer based tracking tools for recording composting data on a daily basis.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with compost operating systems.
