- Monitor production processes, collect key manufacturing data, optimize processes through data analysis (SPC, MiniTab, other)
- As team member, work to improve manufacturing efficiency by generating optimized cell lay-outs, updating work instructions, and preparing visual boards for monitoring and tracking activities (GEMBA)
- Conduct hands-on tasks to support both manufacturing and new product development:
- Lab-based prototyping
- Characterization of materials properties
- Measurement of dimensions, both manually and via computer controlled CMMs
- Design and fabrication of fixtures and molds (e.g., via 3D printing)
- Prepare end of Summer Power Point document with highlights of activities
- Enrolled in Engineering or Science program
- Relevant engineering skills from classwork a strong plus, such as CAD, statistics, programming, science labs, others
- Familiarity with manufacturing and/or lab environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to participate in wide range of activities, including hands-on manufacturing support, new product prototyping and desk-based report writing
- Required to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 35 lbs
- Must be able to sit, bend, squat and walk about facility
- Depending on project assignment, may be required to walk/stand for majority of day
