Job Description:We are seeking a college summer intern in our Newark, DE facility. This Process Engineering Intern will primarily focus on improvement of key manufacturing product lines.Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor production processes, collect key manufacturing data, optimize processes through data analysis (SPC, MiniTab, other)
  • As team member, work to improve manufacturing efficiency by generating optimized cell lay-outs, updating work instructions, and preparing visual boards for monitoring and tracking activities (GEMBA)
  • Conduct hands-on tasks to support both manufacturing and new product development:
  • Lab-based prototyping
  • Characterization of materials properties
  • Measurement of dimensions, both manually and via computer controlled CMMs
  • Design and fabrication of fixtures and molds (e.g., via 3D printing)
  • Prepare end of Summer Power Point document with highlights of activities
Education & Experience
  • Enrolled in Engineering or Science program
  • Relevant engineering skills from classwork a strong plus, such as CAD, statistics, programming, science labs, others
Skills
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and/or lab environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to participate in wide range of activities, including hands-on manufacturing support, new product prototyping and desk-based report writing
Working ConditionsPosition requires on-site activities for prototype fabrication (this is not a remote position).Work schedule is 5 days, 40 hrs per week, first shift.Physical RequirementsHands-on, lab-based job environment:
  • Required to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 35 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, bend, squat and walk about facility
  • Depending on project assignment, may be required to walk/stand for majority of day
