- Provide strategic vision for all product copy and brand editorial across category of business
- Partner with Brand Marketing teams to develop and revise brand guidelines where needed
- Review and refine copy across all channels—Store, DTC, Retail.com and Social—to deliver on brand promise, and ensure consistency of tone within a digital-first POV
- Leverage SEO, web analytics, customer insights, and user feedback to optimize content impact
- Work with Legal to ensure compliance and to help protect brand/corporate intellectual property
- Partner with Marketing and Production teams to develop content roadmap & action plan for deliverables
- Track and balance writer workload; set team priorities and goals
- Recruit and interview potential new hires
- 6+ years experience in editorial roles; 2+ years demonstrated experience managing, developing, and leading teams
- Extensive experience in digital mediums, especially eCommerce
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; you think and communicate clearly in all mediums
- A solution-oriented leader who is adept at both creative thinking and project management
- Great “bedside manner”; you give constructive yet decisive feedback and you value kindness in all interactions
- Interpersonal savvy; an ability to effectively work with and connect with all levels of employees across multiple functions and geographies
- Enthusiasm to communicate your vision and insights to your team, colleagues, and business stakeholders
- BA in English or Creative Writing, or relevant work experience
- Experience or strong personal interest in working with educational, activity and/or family/parenting brands is a plus
