- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or finance or equivalent experience.
- Experience using advanced features of MS Excel to perform detailed analyses, including Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS and creating charts and graphs; word processing, database systems, email, web-based software and on-line financial and payroll/personnel systems.
- Strong financial and business management skills and experience to perform extensive in-depth budgetary and financial analyses as well as document such activities and utilize strong mathematical skills to accurately calculate, manipulate and evaluate large volumes of data.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to independently anticipate, identify problems, perform thoughtful, detailed research to resolve such problems and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail in reviewing, compiling, analyzing and presenting data, with focus on accuracy, consistency of format and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to prepare clear, accurate correspondence and reports; and to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in person, by phone and by email with a diverse group of people in order to clarify complex technical and policy issues and help address questions/resolve problems.
- Ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment, adapting to changing priorities when needed.
- Experience interpreting and applying University and campus policy and procedures, specifically accounting practices and procedures; business contracts and self-supporting funds.
- Experience in KuaIi Financial Systems, Decision Support, Cognos and Veterinary Medical and Administrative Computer System (VMACS). Ability to learn new systems as required.
- Experience working in a university setting. Knowledge of UC clinical education organizations, respective roles, financial policies and practices as they relate to business operations including budgeting, accounting, business contracts, purchasing, payroll, personnel, and contracting.
