This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Departments as they occur.Kind of WorkThe purposes of this position are to coordinate, direct, prioritize and supervise work assignments of inspection subordinates in maintaining standards of safety and workmanship in plumbing installation. Inspects plumbing systems, tunnels and plans for compliance with applicable codes, standards and ordinances. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work. Reviews, recommends, and/or assists in identifying solutions for problems, disputes, and conflicts regarding Plumbing Section. Reviews inspection reports and orders re-inspections when necessary. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained. Supervises clerical staff in maintaining permanent records of inspection activities. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.NOTE: Employee will be required to obtain certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Plumbing Plans Examiner prior to the completion of the probationary period.Minimum Qualifications For Admission to ExaminationPossession of current certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Plumbing Inspector and Commercial Plumbing Inspector; PLUS, must meet at least one (1) of the following listed categories:I. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status in the classification of Plumbing Inspector II.OR II. Possession of a current Master Plumber's license issued by the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana.OR III. At least seven (7) years of full-time, paid, verifiable, journeyman-level plumbing work experience under the supervision of a Master Plumber.*ICC certification as a Plumbing Plans Examiner is preferred.Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.Kind of Examination(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date and place of any assembled testing.
