- Must be actively enrolled in an educational program related to this type of internship and have completed a minimum of 2 years towards a respective degree. If you are a recent graduate, you must be within 1 year of your graduation date. (all general)

- Assist in the development, testing, maintenance and implementation of security plans, products, systems, technology innovation and control techniques that support Gas, Electric and business operations across 8 states.
- Help ensure systems supporting businesses are kept cost effective, supportable, standardized and in keeping with industry best practices for Security controls.
- Implement and test physical security control programming including access card readers, video cameras and DVRs. Learn and support the overall Culture of Security for BHE.
- Work within various security management software products to configure and manage access to systems and facilities. Leverage experience through fundamental concepts used with system operation to troubleshoot, test and ensure provisioning of access is kept to least privilege. Develop and apply functional experience to video management systems software and utilize windows experience with servers to help ensure optimal performance, when feasible, is kept for essential systems.
- Work with Physical Security Systems but become familiar with assigned cyber security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection software, vulnerability management and various endpoint protection products, etc.in support of physical security requirements.
- Receive work assignments, clarify work details and expectations, and complete work in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Contribute to the overall team efforts by keeping assigned tasks at the forefront of expectations while coordinating with leadership and team members when direction may not be clear.
- Participate in task completion for system audits, user audits and network audits. Be prepared to assist with evidence gathering. Provide support to teams as needed.
- Help ensure Company meets all applicable regulations, including NERC-CIP, TSA, SOX, etc. Complete testing and validation efforts for Physical Security Systems as required while ensure solutions are compliant to the governing body.
- Provide fresh perspective from experiences and education. Look for opportunities to help BHE improve through the lens of a new look at all aspects of physical security.
- Participation in the Company's industry orientation experiences, which may include some travel and overnight stays. Prepare and present a synopsis of experience with the Company at the end of the internship.
- Basic understanding of network architecture, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Video Management Systems and components, audit and log management, physical security access control systems, real-time systems, and common operating systems.
- Knowledge of network systems, vulnerability assessment and management products, Windows operating systems, basic UNIX/Linux operating systems, networks (routing, switching, etc.), scripting/programming (shell, Perl, C, etc.) helpful. Integrator skills for low voltage electronics to include troubleshooting, repair and configuration of access control and video systems.
- Individual organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to listen, comprehend and apply given direction regarding efforts, priorities, and solutions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
- Background experience with Video Management/Access Control Server Systems.
