- Manage the site EHSS Department for optimum performance and technical competency
- Actively coach and mentor Dept. staff, peers, and site personnel to share learning, resolve issues, and develop them professionally
- Ensure proper resource utilization and align staffing (internal & external) to effectively support all EHSS regulations, initiatives, and company governance.
- Drive and empower decision making to the lowest level within the site organization Manage and provide EHS&S support to plant operations and support services, BL’s, R&D and customers as necessary – including: training of employees and supervisors, permitting, community relations, and leading the Joint Safety & Health Committee. - Establish in cooperation with the site Management Team strategic site objectives and goals for site EHSS to ensure proper resourcing, and results are communicated Collaborate with the site Leadership to foster a high performing safety culture
- Develop and manage site EHSS budget and drive cost improvements and efficiencies
- Provide as necessary technical support to the Region and Global EHSS activities.
- Represent Evonik as needed to the community, regulators, and other stakeholders Management Systems (MS) ·
- Responsible to implement and continuously improve the site’s EHSS MS to ensure compliance and improved performance
- Provide as necessary technical support to the Region and Global MS activities. Environmental, Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal safety, environmental, health, security, and regulatory requirements including Evonik EHSS corporate policies and procedures.
- Monitor and develop EHS&S programs and actions on emerging site EHS&S matters.
- Develop plant media based (air, water, waste), health, security and safety programs to achieve continuous improvement for employees, the community, and customers.
- Ensure that all testing, monitoring, and reporting for external and internal requirements are completed and reported on time including industrial hygiene. Frequency % of time spent on each major activity 30 20 10 40 Position: Manager EHSS Page 3 of 5 All sections MUST be completed
- Provide oversight and coaching to the site Incident reporting, investigating, and root-cause analysis, and corrective action activities to ensure compliance, timeliness, accuracy, consideration of human factors, communication of lesson learned, and execution of improvements
- Hazardous Waste Responsibility
- Education: BS in Environmental Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of education/experience Related
- Experience: 5 years of broad experience managing EH&S regulatory compliance in a Chemical manufacturing facility preferred. Special Training: Demonstrated strong leadership,
- Communication, influencing skills Equipment/Software: Computer literate
