DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center. DMC University Laboratories evolved in 1993 and is comprised of Core Laboratories, Specialty Laboratories, two rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood Bank Lab, and full service outreach infrastructure which includes patient service centers, remote ambulatory laboratories, marketing staff, courier system and billing department. The DMC University Laboratories service area covers the entire Southeast Michigan market, and is growing at a rapid pace with the following outstanding features: Test menu of over 1,000 tests, which includes high end specialty tests. Less than 1% of our tests are sent to outside reference laboratories. Provide reference laboratory services to many of the other healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and several out of state facilities.Summary DescriptionUnder general supervision, applies an advanced level of knowledge and experience in a specific laboratory section to conduct and interpret specialized and/or innovative testing and analyses. Serves as a technical resource person providing guidance and direction to assigned section personnel, troubleshoots equipment and instrument malfunctions.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, related science or clinical discipline, or Canadian degree in clinical discipline and completion of an accredited Technologist program2. Registered as a Medical Technologist with the American Society of Clinical, Pathologist MT(ASCP), National Certification Agency for Clinical Lab Scientist (NCA), Canadian CSMLS or registered in specialty area/or equivalent.3. Four to five years of progressively more responsible experience as a Medical Technologist.Skills Required1. Analytical ability to determine proper means of testing samples and to evaluate results.2. Organizational skills to plan daily workload and implement directives.3. Ability to work independently.4. Interpersonal skills and tact to work with a variety of medical personnel.5. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
