Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is
critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems,
material presentations and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.Knowledge:
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and therapeutic techniques.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Knowledge of human behavior; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of federal, tribal, state, & local la and policies pertaining to the mental health and substance use disorder treatment fields.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention models, methods, concepts, and practices.
- Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Social Perceptiveness: Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
