Jenks Public Schools Job DescriptionPosition: NAE Instructional AssistantReports to: Principal and Instructional Lead TeacherSupervises: NoneQualifications:Tier 1: * Bachelor's Degree required.Tier 2: * High School diploma or GED required.
  • Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
  • Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
  • Hold an associate's degree or higher, or
  • Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or
  • Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
  • Bilingual in English and other district prominent languages.
Continued Qualifications for Tier 1 and Tier 2: * Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults required.
  • Computer application skills required.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Assist certified staff in meeting individual student needs within a variety of instructional settings.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: * Reinforcements of math, english, reading, social studies, science and other subjects.
  • Works with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce or remediate learning materials and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists in the supervision of students.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, records attendance and grades, supervises testing and assessments, and maintains records as assigned by the teacher.
  • Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher or may be assigned as the substitute teacher.
  • Maintains a level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
  • Organizes, distributes, collects, and prepare materials, i.e. project materials, student manipulatives, etc.
  • Supervises students in a variety of instructional settings.
  • Collaborates with teachers in curricular areas.
  • Assists with a variety of instructional situations.
  • Assist with other assignments as may be designated by principal or lead teacher.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
