The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide appropriate care for the clients served at the New Hire Assessment Center (NHAC). The CMA is an integral member of the NHAC team who performs a wide range of clinical and general office duties under the supervision of the Employee Health Nurse Manager, the RN, and LPN. The CMA must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide appropriate care during the Post Offer Assessment for new hire employees served in the clinic, knowledgeable of annual requirement guidelines for employees served and have the ability to independently perform essential functions of the job to include but not limited to Fit Testing, Phlebotomy, and Urine Drug Screens.What you will do
  • Schedules as needed, coordinates, communicates and monitors workflow and consults for patients using departmental procedures.
  • Promotes the daily workflow to include collecting participant info/assessment data. Obtains/records participant’s vital signs; temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight & height. Reports assessment findings to provider & records on appropriate documentation forms in a timely manner. Obtains additional data from participant & others on initial data collection. Preparation of encounter. Greets participants immediately with eye contact & smile. Manages patient expectations with clear explanations.
  • Perform phlebotomy venipuncture for collection of specimens. Sends specimens to correct lab with appropriate paperwork.
  • Maintains clean, compliant, well-stocked work areas. Maintains and uses principles of aseptic technique and infection control when performing clinical duties and task. Practice standard precautions, including hand washing and disposal of bio-hazardous material. Ensures that needle containers and potentially infectious waste are appropriately disposed and removed from the clinic and exam area according to the infection control guidelines.
  • Acts as a liaison between nurse and participant, communicating essential information.
  • Receive, organize, prioritize, store, and maintain transmittable information utilizing electronic technology into the patient Electronic Medical Record. Enters correct data into participant’s health record and does not duplicate records. File scanned documents and records into participant’s health record per policy and process.
  • Support and/ provides suggestions for cost containment. Identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings/waste reduction. Orders, stocks and maintains exams rooms and clinic areas with standard levels of supplies, first aid medications, forms and equipment. Recognizes participant care trends affecting unit supplies and notifies manager. Checks clinic area and rooms for malfunctioning equipment and general maintenance problems on a regular basis. Reports findings to appropriate person or arranges for repairs as required.
QualificationsEducation
  • Program Graduate, Medical Assistant (Required)
Experience
  • 1 year Clinical experience (Preferred)
  • 1 year Phlebotomy (Preferred)

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service behaviors. (Medium proficiency)
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA

Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Preferred)
