Spur is looking for ground maintenance workers for the Town of Palm Beach. Work will be done under the supervision of an appointed supervisor; however, some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Many, if not all, duties will be performed outside, so the candidate must know they are to work in a noisy environment and be subject to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. The candidate must understand the importance of proper safety equipment such as glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.Duties expected of this position are:This position's starting pay is $12.00 an hour, with a possible promotion chance and an income increase by October 1st.Planting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, mowing grass, trimming fence lines, and trimming banks of drainage ditches. Collecting litter and debris.Applying pesticides under close supervisionUsing hand tools such as picks, shovels, and rakes.Operating power equipment, including chainsaws, edgers, weed eaters, push and riding mowers, backhoes, and field paintersInventory management of Parks and Recreation areas.Informing the supervisor of any needed repairs and maintenance.Cleaning, weeding, mulching, and watering flower beds. General maintenance of flower beds and shrubbery, such as cleaning the flowers and pruning shrubsCleaning and painting concession stands, field houses, and related parks and recreation facilitiesRepairing windows, doors, plumbing, and other fixtures.Performing general manual labor.
