- Ensure PACCAR battery systems have quality designed in using Systems Engineering methods to specify and decompose high-level quality concepts into concrete properties applicable to individual components. Analyze effects of component variability to ensure robust system design in every use case.
- Create and maintain documentation related to product safety including Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), verification and validation test results, and third-party certifications.
- Be a subject matter expert on battery and electrical safety, providing guidance to the organization on best practices related to safe design, handling, usage, maintenance, and recycling of battery systems. Research both existing and future internal and external regulatory and safety standards to ensure PACCAR's batteries continue to meet requirements around the globe.
- Support PACCAR Standards by creating, critiquing, and updating corporate standards related to battery and high voltage safety. Work across multiple divisions and functional teams to achieve consensus on practical best practices applicable to heavy duty vehicles and vehicle manufacturing.
- Provide Safety Systems Engineering services in a matrixed, cross-functional organization supporting multiple simultaneous projects developing technologies for a variety of applications. Maximize PACCAR's return on investment by developing scalable, versatile concepts easily applied to specialized needs across different vehicles and market segments.
- Ensure systems are seamlessly integrated within the PACCAR supply chain by providing timely and accurate information to engineering, logistics, manufacturing, sales, and service departments across all of PACCAR's worldwide brands.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Masters preferred.
- 5-10 years' experience applying safety concepts to high power electrical systems.
- 3-5 years' experience in the automotive industry.
- 1-3 years' experience applying Systems Engineering principles.
- 1-3 years' experience designing large battery systems.
- Excellent knowledge of:
- Product Development (Design for Six Sigma highly preferred).
- Electrical Systems.
- Electrical Safety.
- Functional Safety.
- Embedded Systems.
- Excellent cooperation and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate in the Chinese language (Mandarin) highly preferred.
