Performs diagnostic procedures requiring the use of equipment that produces ionizing radiation. Helps patients through the mammogram process while using low-dose X-ray imaging equipment to view the breast. Operates mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician. Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Required to float to other modalities/areas in the diagnostic services department to meet patient care needs.
QualificationsEducationBachelors or Associates degree required or must have completed an accredited radiology technology programExperience1 year experience preferredCertifications, Licenses and RegistrationsLicensed Radiographer in the state of practice is requiredAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered in general radiology and Mammography certification recommended within 24 months.
