JOB SUMMARY:At all levels, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively as an active team member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum. In this role, the goals include providing an excellent patient experience, high quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Demonstrates competence in managing various pharmacy workflows and systems including dispensing, pharmacy information systems, and inventory management.Maintains a system for medication storage and securityManages medication recalls and backordersConnects patients to medication assistance resources which includes management of patient assistance program applications through pharmaceutical manufacturersCollaborates with the prior authorizations teamAssists pharmacists and other clinicians with medication histories as requestedPerforms medication refills using a standardized protocolSupport learners in the pharmacy departmentThis role description is a general description of the essential job functions. Measures success by understanding where we are currently and where we want to go and then applying those new ideas to affect positive change.SPECIFIED SKILLSCOMPUTER:Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.FOREIGN LANGUAGE:Spanish speaking skills preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical Demands: Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)Physical Activity: Frequent (34 - 66% of Workday)SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Pharmacy Technician III roles will have supervisory authority over Pharmacy Technician I and II roles.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEPharmacy Technician IMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GEDPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from a pharmacy technician training programExperience in a pharmacy or clinical settingKnowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record and/or pharmacy dispensing software preferredPharmacy Technician IIMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Meets all minimum qualifications for Pharmacy technician ICertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) licenseOne year of pharmacy or clinical experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from a pharmacy technician training programPharmacy Technician IIIMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Meets all minimum qualifications for Pharmacy Technician IITwo years of pharmacy or clinical experienceAdvanced skillset in one of the following:Clinical care:Examples include: refill protocol, medication access, medication reconciliationRetail operations:Examples include: inventory management, 340B analysis, workforce managementPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from a pharmacy technician training programREQUIRED LICENSES:Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license required within 12 months of hire.SCHEDULE:Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Work from home opportunities may be available for qualified applications. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek.
