  • Worksite Location: Detroit Lakes, MN
What you’ll do as a Payroll Accountant:
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees, including data entry, verification, and distribution of paychecks or electronic transfers
  • Calculate and process employee wages, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation accurately and timely
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including filing payroll tax returns and remitting payments
  • Reconcile payroll transactions and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate records of employee information, earnings, deductions, and benefits
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including tax withholdings, deductions, and pay discrepancies
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure alignment between payroll and personnel records
  • Generate payroll reports and analyses as needed for management and regulatory purposes
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary updates to processes and procedures
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution
What you’ll bring to the Payroll Accountant role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll principles and practices
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential information
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
