Our client in the sports and entertainment industry is currently seeking an experienced Sr. / Accounting Manager to lead our GL team. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely processing of monthly and quarterly results. Collaborating closely with cross-functional business partners, you’ll provide valuable business insights to the Finance team, supporting performance measurement and enhancing financial reporting.Responsibilities:Month-End and Quarter-End Close Processes:
  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reporting results and flux analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP.
Business Insights and Process Improvement:
  • Understand business activities and objectives, making recommendations to enhance scalability within the team organization, business systems, and processes.
Accounting Policies and Practices:
  • Develop and maintain consistent application of GAAP and non-GAAP accounting policies and practices.
Technical Research and Coordination:
  • Conduct technical research and document company positions on accounting matters.
  • Coordinate with external auditors as needed, especially regarding new accounting pronouncements.
Team Development:
  • Mentor and develop accountants, fostering their professional growth and maximizing their potential.
Internal Control and Risk Assessment:
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to maintain a robust internal control environment.
  • Regularly assess risks associated with existing and new processes.
This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.Required Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years of increasing responsibilities in accounting and financial reporting experience; public accounting experience is a plus
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes; solid knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulations
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and NetSuite (or similar accounting software)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and build positive relationships with clients and peers at all levels
  • Ability to efficiently lead and prioritize multiple projects at once
Location is in San Francisco 3 days per week.COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $135K - $150K + bonus. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
