- Conduct medical examinations, evaluations, and assessments to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal conditions.
- Develop comprehensive patient care plans, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Design and document treatment plans, including medication prescriptions, based on thorough reviews of patient histories and diagnostic results.
- Communicate effectively with collaborative physicians, primary care providers, referring providers, nursing staff, and case managers regarding patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, medication regimens, and health maintenance procedures.
- Provide medical care to ill and injured patients in accordance with established standards of care.
- Document all medical findings and care provided accurately and comprehensively in patients' clinical records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to assess patients' health needs, outcomes, and the effectiveness of care plans.
- Initiate appropriate communication with other healthcare providers as necessary.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
- Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in gastroenterology or a related field.
- DEA and CDS eligible.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters. Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills.
- Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.
- Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.
- Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
