- Develop a high impact, nationally recognized AI research program to address the critical issues in agriculture.
- Conduct innovative field and lab research and outreach activities focusing on precision agriculture, crop monitoring, livestock management, sensor technology, analytical data analysis, or related areas.
- Collaborate with colleagues on research to address critical issues in AI technology and applications.
- Write grant proposals for extramural, competitive funding to support AI research.
- Publish scientific research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conference gatherings.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate research.
- Participate in university, professional services, and outreach education activities.
- The option to teach AI-related courses as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- A doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture applications.
- Postdoctoral experience in applying AI techniques to agricultural systems.
- Strong organizational, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in AI tools and frameworks with a focus on agriculture applications.
- Research grant writings, submissions, and reports.
- Scientific journal publications in relevant fields.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Field work under all weather conditions.
- Work task such as lifting or carrying objects (40 lbs.)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
