- Landscaping responsibilities including watering plants, fertilizing turf, planting annuals, minor tree trimming, spraying/removal of weeds, and other general landscaping responsibilities.
- Preventative maintenance of building equipment, i.e. furnace filters, emergency lights, batteries, etc.
- Moving items as needed, including boxes, furniture, and other miscellaneous items.
- Maintenance responsibilities including changing light bulbs, batteries, unclogging drains.
- Assisting residents in their maintenance requirements.
- Uses Peace Village tools and equipment, and drives Peace Village vehicles according to company safety policy, complies with all aspects of company safety policy at all times.
- Conducts regularly scheduled checks, inspections and preventative maintenance of all landscaping equipment.
- Sprays trees and shrubs, and applies supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawn and trees.
- Maintains job site staging areas are clean, safe and organized; ensures proper storage of supplies and that all equipment is in their designated locations.
- Assists with unloading of work trucks and delivery trucks.
- Communicates with Facilities Operation Supervisor on a regular basis regarding instruction, direction, workload, work schedule and job completion.
- Adheres to and complies with IDPH and OSHA standards.
- A high school diploma required.
- Previous assisted living industry-related experience is preferred.
- Knowledge, skill and experience with landscaping techniques and equipment preferred.
- Must be safety and energy conscious.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on clinical judgement, established guidelines and individual circumstances.
- Ability to speak and understand English; excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to follow oral and written directions are essential.
- Possess full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- The ability to deal with others in a diplomatic, tactful, and confidential manner is essential.
- Production of a reasonable quantity and quality of work, including accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ability to respond to supervision, instruction and work direction from the Director of Facilities Management in a timely manner.
