The successful candidate will work on the design, synthesis and characterization of novel peptides and peptide conjugates to discover next-generation peptide-based therapeutics. Your expert synthetic knowledge and proven design and synthetic accomplishments will enable you to have significant impact on Neurocrine’s projects. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career and help discover peptide therapeutics of the future._Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Lead projects and teams towards agreed upon goals, ultimately working towards clinical candidate nominationDesign, synthesize and characterize peptides, small proteins and chemically-modified analogs using state-of-the-art synthesis, purification, analytical and biophysical techniquesIndependent data-driven optimization of peptide SAREffective communication of scientific rationale, results and interpretation at project, team and departmental meetings, contributing to strategic discussions.Active collaboration and sharing of expertise with colleaguesBuild and enhance internal and external professional relationshipsAid in recruiting of peptide group scientistsFuture management of more junior scientistsRequirements:BA/BA degree in organic chemistry and 12 years of experience ORMaster's Degree and 8 years of experience ORPh.D. in organic chemistry, in a related field, with at least 5 years of subsequent experience in an industrial settingProficient in all aspects of modern peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, purification, and analysis; capable of immediate independent laboratory work on solid- and solution-phase chemistryExperience in optimizing and delivering peptides as candidates for clinical trialStrong publication record of accomplishmentStrong understanding of peptide structure and associated biophysical techniques to assess peptide structure, stability, and behavior in solutionExperience in bioconjugation, time-extension, and formulation strategies for peptidesMotivated to maintain a strong laboratory presence along with design and planning activitiesExcellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication abilitiesDemonstration of cross-functional understanding related to drug developmentAssimilates data and research findings outside of Neurocrine for application to new scientific projectsAdvanced knowledge and demonstrated ability working with / recommending a variety of laboratory equipment/toolsPrioritizes teamwork above all elseExhibits leadership skill and ability, typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teamsExcellent computer, communications, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skillsSees broader picture, and impact on multiple programs, teams, and/or departmentsAbility to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency#LI-AD1Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets employer.We are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, and we recognize there are a variety of ways to meet our requirements. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
