- Preparing speeches and presentations for EDU's assistant director and deputy assistant director
- Performing AP-style copy editing and proofreading of all EDU-generated web content, such as announcements, press releases, articles, and events
- Performing AP-style copy editing for various documents, including some responses to Congressional inquiries, annual reports, and presentations
- Incorporating feedback and edits from EDU's communication specialist and EDU leadership
- Drafting copy for press-release style announcements, events, articles describing NSF-supported research, social media, and other products for EDU/OAD and EDU/EES
- Performing layout and scheduling of mass email messages using NSF's mass email platform, GovDelivery, including resizing and cropping images, writing descriptive alt text, and effectively using various layout templates
- Regularly maintaining and monitoring subscriber lists for EDU-specific email topics in GovDelivery
- Regularly analyzing and reporting on metrics and analytics for web pages and GovDelivery messages
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- 6+ years of applicable professional experience in the following:
- Editing and writing content describing complex scientific topics and research in plain language, so it is accessible and understandable to the public
- Copy editing and proofing written content for publication using the Associated Press stylebook
- Using GovDelivery or similar mass email platforms
- Using Google Analytics or other web analytics applications to assess page views and other metrics and using that data to recommend future communications products and plans
- Collaborating with clients to plan a media campaign for a specific purpose
- Interviewing Subject Matter Experts and developing original content
- Generating engaging content for different types of audiences
- Planning and hosting events online and in person
- Monday - Friday, normal business hours
- Work to be performed hybrid, three days remote, two days onsite
- Onsite location is NSF offices in Alexandria, VA
