Professional Development Day - June 24, 2024Reports to: Building PrincipalSalary: Summer Rate $36.77 (per hour)The Program: Teachers will deliver personalized instruction and support Monday through Thursday with Monday and Tuesday being in-person days, Wednesday being virtual sessions (zoom links shared with admin team), and Thursday being additional tutoring support and in-school activities (alternating Thursdays) with a hybrid approach to supporting teaching and learning. Teachers, Paraprofessionals and Specialists will continue to collaborate and reinvent summer learning.This approach will use learning practices and computer applications delivered in a developmentally appropriate environment with group and individualized learning opportunities as determined based on student credit, remedial, transition or IEP requirements and facilitated by the teacher. Summer Boost staff will support and guide their students toward pre-determined measures of student growth and provide pre and post assessments along the way. Direct instruction and coordination of high yield instructional strategies is required to support student growth and overall achievement. Incentive options and approaches will be used on alternating Thursdays with students requiring additional targeted tutoring using ALEKs or STAR data approaches will be needed to improve overall learning goals. Co-planning and/or co-teaching will be encouraged and supported along with the use of paraprofessionals to support students with disabilities and Multilingual Learners (MLL), formerly known as English Language Learners. Specialist support will be available for planning, implementation and assessment of the Senator Summer Boost learning.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual need, interests and abilities of the students through an in-person format supporting students
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of in person and virtual Wednesday learning etiquette (Zoom links shared either by the teacher with administrative team)
  • Plan for IEP, ESY, 12 Month, and remedial students in Literacy, Science, Social Studies, MLL/ELL, Math, and Special Education services based on certain groupings of students assigned
  • Teaching methods to support technology implementation and use of appropriate content practices
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and- in harmony with the goals- establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Follows rules and guidelines by the school and district
  • Reliable, punctual, and prepared to help facilitate the Summer Boost experience based on student needs
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement and student needs, based on growth measures
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary
  • Successfully assists with facilitating an educational process that promotes participation, enthusiasm, positive group interactions, and academic success
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Other duties as assigned by designated supervisor or principal
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification in area to be taught or supported, dual certification (content and special education) preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with high school students
Standard Requirements:
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
