- Instruct student dental hygienists in the theoretical and clinical aspects of the practice of dental hygiene.
- Assist students to apply dental hygiene theory, the dental hygiene process and dental hygiene techniques in clinical settings.
- Counsel students on educational and related problems; facilitate problem-solving process; offer advice and assistance as needed.
- Make recommendations to faculty and administration in developing curriculum content and improved teaching and dental hygiene techniques.
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, students, and clinic personnel in planning and coordinating curriculum and clinical content and activities.
- Interact and collaborate with dental hygiene service personnel to supplement clinic learning with practical experience in the dental hygiene clinic.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in actual dental hygiene situations.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assessments to determine student performance and achievement; maintain necessary records to indicate student progress.
- Assist in the preparation of reports required by accrediting agencies.
- Participate in quality improvement activities in the college and university.
- Perform related duties based on departmental needs.
- Ohio Dental Hygiene license or eligibility for an Ohio Dental Hygienist license as defined by the Ohio State Dental Board.
- Ohio local anesthesia certification or eligibility for an Ohio local anesthesia certificate.
