- Conduct a thorough inspection of damaged vehicles to assess the degree of damage to the structural, body, mechanical, or interior components.
- Ensure that all photo estimates contain sufficient photos and request additional pictures or information if needed (the photo estimate is not a final estimate).
- Determine the cost effectiveness of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors.
- Prepare supporting documentation for estimates, including taking photographs, OEM position statements, completing forms, and other tasks required by customers, insurance, and fleet companies.
- Possess a proficient understanding of the CCC estimating platform and other management systems.
- Write estimates using proper repair procedures in accordance with insurance, fleet, and Swift Recon guidelines.
- Vehicle estimates must be completed within four hours of arrival.
- Responsible for assigning the repair plan for all assigned vehicles.
- Review repair notes in estimating software to ensure all overlapping procedures are estimated.
- Record any necessary information to complete tasks within the body shop management software's internal notes.
- Responsible for maintaining an open line of communication with the Repair Planner and team through all phases of the collision repair process.
- Is required to stay up to date on vehicle status throughout the entire process and ensure the vehicle maintains quoted estimated time of completion.
- Responsible for performing final quality control checks on all assigned vehicles.
- Able to fill department estimating needs during teammate transitions or absences.
- Work as a team with the Repair Planner during periods of need or when there is downtime.
- Comply with company safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
- Perform other duties as required to successfully meet the needs and goals of the estimating department and Swift Recon.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in estimating, service writing, or advisor department.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of collision repair process, including insurance procedures and requirements for a variety of carriers
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
- Proficient knowledge and use of estimating software
- Proficient with computers and other technology
