- Attend Reserve Police Officer Academy and participate in local training.
- Assist full-time, sworn police officers with shift patrols and other duties as assigned.
- Write citations/warnings to violators of ORS & ordinances, as authorized by chief of police.
- Assist with community service events.
- Tag abandoned vehicles for code enforcement and assist with traffic control during events held throughout the year. Examples include events like 4th of July, Volleyball and Hood to Coast.
- Assist with cold thefts (no suspects) and errands for the department as needed.
- Assist with prisoner transports to/from jail.
- Begin and complete the appropriate field training manual.
- Perform bike and foot patrol as needed, along with security for city and/or school events.
- May be called upon to provide testimony during the court Process.
- Following the completion of academy, require field training and LEDS manual, reserve duties will also include general patrol functions.
- Uses and Assists in the maintenance of equipment: Operates and maintains firearms, body armor, impact weapons, portable radios, restraining devices, lighting/vision equipment, first aid supplies, safety/hazardous material equipment, radar, photographic equipment, traffic cones and flares, evidence gathering equipment, intoxilyzer, computers, riot gear, and audio-visual equipment.
