- Assists in the preparation and review of financial and regulatory reports required by various regulators and government agencies.
- Assists in the preparation and review of financial and management reports for internal use by the Bank.
- Assists in the daily accounting review and month end closing processes, including the certification of the Bank’s general ledger accounts.
- Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining accounting systems that comply with GAAP, tax, bank regulatory and management requirements.
- Assists in the coordination and preparation for audits/reviews by external auditors/regulators; including assistance with all related tax filings.
- Issues written and oral instructions regarding accounting related procedures to both the accounting department staff and other departments where activities directly affect accounting functions.
- Assists in departmental projects such as annual budget process and branch profitability report.
- Assists department work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Assigns departmental duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Oversees the correction of processing errors, customer account adjustments, and the resolution of customer complaints as they relate to accounting functions.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Maintain up-to-date desk procedures for assigned duties.
- Performs other duties within the accounting department as needed.
- Participates in and completes training objectives with passing scores.
- Follows all Riverview policies and procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Daily contact with the supervisor to receive direction and interpretation of existing and new accounting procedures.
- Confers daily with fellow employees and other departments providing assistance and coordination of accounting related activities.
- Occasional contact with Internal Auditor in maintaining adherence to company accounting procedures and compliance with related government regulations.
- Occasional contact with members of professions with whom the incumbent must consult from time to time, i.e., representatives of various government agencies, accounting firms, and other financial intermediaries.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
- Ability to apply concepts such as interest accruals, discounts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
