- Manages, and communicates with the Operations Manager, issues affecting personnel, safety, maintenance, production efficiency, product quality, current and upcoming projects, competition and pricing
- Establishes and meets customer order delivery times according to factors such as truck capacities distances to delivery site and fleet availability
- Ensures compliance with City, State and Federal regulations in all areas
- Comply with all Department of Transportation requirements including but not limited to licensing, vehicle inspection, and hours of service.
- Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.
- Inspects the truck as required at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
- Maneuvers the truck up to deliver concrete to the point of delivery. Back truck under batching plant or hopper to receive concrete.
- Climbs the ladder, approximately 10-12 feet, on the mixer truck to view the load of concrete for consistency and amount, to inspect the drum for cleanliness.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the operation of ready mixed concrete facilities or other directly related industry experience preferred.
- Experience using TrackIt, SmartDrive and Command software preferred.
- Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. DOT Medical Certificate required.
- Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety rules and procedure manuals as well as carry out written or verbal instructions.
- Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.
- Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.
- Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team.
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
- Able to utilize a tablet for load status, time keeping, training and other items.
- Regularly able to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.
