Position Title: SBA Business Development Officer IReports To: VariesDirect Reports: N/A
Salary Grade: 11SUMMARY:Source SBA loans in compliance with SBA and financial institution policies and procedures.Business Development Officers in this classification are junior business development officers with experience levels of one to two years. Portfolio size will be smaller than average, due to the length of time in the SBA division.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related area preferred
  • Minimum two to five years of experience in a financial institution
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of financial institution’s products and services
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Familiar with standard office equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Interview SBA loan applicants
  • Work closely with RM’s and RP’s in their respective region
  • Request specified information for loan application
  • Prepare loan request for processing and approval through the SBA division
  • Correspond with customers, applicants or RM’s and RP’s to resolve questions regarding application information
  • Stay abreast of current and developing regulations as they apply to the SBA lending area
  • Generates new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals
  • Develops and maintains a referral source database
  • Develops and implements marketing activities within the budgetary constraints established by supervisor
  • Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of the bank’s credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages
  • Generates loans that maintain an acceptable level of performance
  • Participate in on-going training programs
  • Other duties as assigned
