With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.This position is located at 2100 Charlie Hall Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29414.This position is for a Mental Health Therapist assigned to the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC) Mobile Crisis team, which provides emergency services to people in the community who are experiencing suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, psychosis, or worsening mental health symptoms. Services are provided to both adults and children. Our clinicians work in teams to assess these acute mental health concerns and arrange for appropriate safety planning and treatment, including facilitating hospital admissions when necessary. The team works very closely with law enforcement when providing care during crisis interventions, prioritizing the safety of all involved. This is an exciting, fast-paced position that regularly interacts with the Probate Court, Emergency Departments, law enforcement, EMS, and local hospitals.After-hours work offers additional compensation above the base salary.The Mobile Crisis team also acts as the primary intake team for CDMHC, performing advanced, comprehensive mental health assessments used for admission to outpatient care. Clinicians are taught to utilize a full array of assessment and diagnostic skills. Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will collaborate with medical team members to ensure all mental health needs are met. Therapists are responsible for documenting services in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system. Clinical staff receive thorough training at orientation as well as opportunities for ongoing training and support, including CEUs whenever possible. For those wanting to make a difference in individual's lives and the surrounding communities of the Lowcountry, there is no better place to practice in the mental health field.State Minimum Requirements: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.Agency (DMH) Minimum Requirements: A master's degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling, or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH.Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position. Experience in intake assessments, diagnostics, and crisis work a plus.This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.
