- Provides direct patient care in the dental center on a regular schedule and in emergency call situations as directed by the Supervisor
- Assures adequate supervision of the dental hygienist and assistant staff, while performing dental services.
- Provides oversight of clinical services to dental hygiene students and dental residents.
- Cooperates in activities with other operating units of the Health Center (e.g., participation in health fairs, screening activities and community outreach).
- Assist the Supervisor in planning and implementing new programs for the dental department
- Responsible for following Health Center protocols and observance of current OSHA requirements and those particular to TVHC.
- Maintains confidentially regarding privileged, administrative, client information, and Corporate Compliance in a professional manner.
- Working as a member of the health care team and assisting in the education of patients and the target community in preventive health care and health maintenance concepts.
- Demonstration of patterns of continued learning in order to ensure growth as a practitioner.
- Participates in the selection of new personnel and evaluation of existing staff.
- Assumes other responsibilities at the direction of the Supervisor
- Performs all duties and service in full compliance with TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards
- Must be in possession of a valid license to practice in the State of California
- Completion of the curriculum of an approved school of dentistry and possession of a DDS or DMD degree required
- DEA license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Minimum 3 years of dentistry experience
- Training/experience in pediatrics is required, as well as a working knowledge of Denti-Cal scope of benefits, and/or dentistry as practiced under a managed care format.
- Proven ability to work with multi-cultural and diverse client base; sensitivity to socio-cultural issues required.
