1. Accurately transcribes physicians' orders; completes necessary forms, requisitions and communications necessary to implement orders.2. Sustains proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).3. Maintains accurate and complete patient records on assigned nursing units.- Initiates and assembles charts- Initiates and maintains Kardex- Initiates demographics4. Maintains adequate quantity of forms, materials and supplies on assigned unit. Maintains reference materials such as policy and procedure manuals as requested.5. Responds in a professional and courteous manner in all telephone and verbal communications skills with internal and external customers.6. Maintains harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests7. Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.8. Maintains patient chart in appropriate functional order as prescribed by hospital policy.- Files diagnostic and laboratory reports in appropriate chart in a timely manner.9. Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital bymaintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters andby presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the servicesprovided.10. Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned orrequested.Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write and communicate in english and the level of a high school senior.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems such as MEDITECH Admissions and PCI, or similar computer systems.
  • Keyboarding at 30 words per minute.
  • Successful completion of medical terminology course with a Grade C orbetter, or successfully pass medical terminology challenge exam with 80% or better.
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in patient registration, admitting, Emergency Center, nurse's aide, medical secretary, medical receptionist,or similar position.
