This position is responsible for supervising watersports rentals and lead watersports programs at an assigned Fishing Center.All interested candidates must apply at this time.Examples of DutiesJob Purpose
Under direct supervision of the park ranger and/or assistant manager, the Watersports Attendant is responsible for assisting in the operation of the Loch Raven Fishing Center.Essential Job Duties
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations to the public.
  • Keep facilities clean and free from hazards.
  • Collect day fees, season passes, and memberships using a cash register for all financial transactions.
  • Verify transactions, daily report and deposits for the day.
  • Proper check in and placement of visiting groups.
  • Answering phones and giving accurate park information.
  • Enforcement of facility rules, including checking coolers for alcohol.
  • Keep facilities clean and free from hazards and litter.
  • Alerting patrons to changing weather and water conditions.
  • Perform routine tasks as assigned. (Such as cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from barrels, cleaning grills and grounds and minor maintenance)
  • Assist managers in dealing with customers as situations arise.
  • Facilitate rentals of watersports equipment and process program registrations.
  • Lead watersports rentals, instruction, and programs for the visiting public and organized groups.
  • Prepare and break down daily rentals of boats and watersports equipment.

Perform other related duties as required.QualificationsTraining and Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age by April 1, 2024.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on the weekdays.
Must have reliable transportation.
Facilities are not located on public transportation lines.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.Preferred Qualifications
Persons with a current Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent) will receive special consideration
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED will receive special consideration
CPR Certification will receive special consideration
Water safety knowledge will receive special consideration
Ability to interact with people in a helpful, courteous manner
Those having the ability to work the entire season will be considered firstLicenses and Certificates
Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED by April 1, 2024
Current CPR Certification by April 1, 2024
Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent) by April 5, 2024Conditions of EmploymentSeasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees Benefits Plan.
