Job Summary
Northside Family Dental is seeking an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA). Our office serves a diverse patient population in northeast Columbus, and offers a comfortable, family-oriented work environment where patients are not treated like numbers, and the staff is valued like family.   • Assist dentist during procedures as needed and other tasks associated with assisting the daily workflow of the office
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and office policies
  • Prepare patients and the work area for treatments and procedures
  • Sterilize dental instruments
  • Place fillings- use restorative materials to place, sculpt & polish fillings, check the bite occlusion, and make sure that the area flosses well
  • Sealants application – applying a thin layer of plastic on teeth to seal them and prevent cavities
  • Fluoride application – applying fluoride gel to the teeth for cavity prevention
  • Coronal polishing – buffing away small, soft plaque deposits from the teeth for additional cleaning
  • Dental charting – creating a chart that lists and describes the condition of a patient’s teeth
  • Schedule patient appointments as needed
Qualifications
  • Registered as an EFDA by the Ohio State Dental Board
  • Received a state certificate in coronal polishing from the Ohio State Board of Dentistry
  • Current CPR certification (re-certification provided)
  • 2-3 years minimum experience working in a dental practice as an EFDA
  • Ability to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices
  • Comfortable working with a diverse patient population
