JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: DirectorCLASSIFICATION: Full TimeORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Secretariat for EvangelizationOFFICE: Office for Life and FamilyTITLE OF SUPERVISOR: Secretary for EvangelizationSummaryThe Director of the Office for Life and Family is responsible for providing direction, assistance and oversight to Respect Life Ministries and Ministries supporting marriage and family life. The Director is also responsible for public policy advocacy as it pertains to the ministries of this office.Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of all the ministries that emanate from the Office for Life and Family
  • Responsible for the development and expansion of Natural Family Planning in the Archdiocese. This includes building an infrastructure to have each couple preparing for marriage trained in this method of family planning.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Archdiocesan prison ministry.
  • Promotes the Courage/Encourage Apostolate through communication with their leadership and through the website and social media
  • Serves Catholic Schools in building a Culture of Life among the students
  • Serves the other Archdiocesan Departments, in particular those within the Secretariat for Evangelization, by providing support for their ministries as well as consultation
  • Serves the Archbishop by being the point person for issues regarding religious liberty, public policy advocacy as it pertains to the ministries of this office
  • Serves as the liaison to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference
  • Provides Archdiocesan leadership to parish Respect Life personnel and to the independent Respect Life organizations by being a symbol of unity and by fostering the advancement of each group's areas of interest and expertise
  • Provides Archdiocesan leadership to Man-up Ministries, the Philadelphia Natural Family Planning Network, Marriage Encounter and other apostolates that are pertinent to this office
  • At the request of the Archbishop and the Auxiliary Bishop/Secretary for Evangelization participates in other projects as needed.
  • Prepares and monitors the budget for the Office for Life and Family
  • Manages the day to day operations of this office
  • Fundraises for programs and events when necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master's Degree in Theology
  • Acceptance and commitment to the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church as professed by the Magisterium
  • Active sacramental life and membership in a parish
  • Skillful in written and oral communication, collaboration, organization, planning and administration
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Availability to carry out responsibilities in the evenings and on weekends
