- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.
- Performs routine and stat analysis on whole blood, serum, plasma and other body fluids in Hematology, Urinalysis, and Chemistry as requested by the medical staff.
- Reports results of testing in the LIS, to the medical staff and the medical support staff as necessary in accordance with established protocols.
- Understands and performs established quality control protocols according to Laboratory Quality Control Guidelines. Monitors for shifts and trends. Notifies supervisor of problems and observations.
- Performs maintenance and calibration of assays on instrumentation according to established procedures.
- Assists in the training of new personnel in the section as requested
- Troubleshoots instrument malfunction and reagent failures and initiates company technical service visits when necessary.
- Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures to comply with safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Internal contacts may include any member of the health care delivery team. External contacts would include Health care personnel/professionals, regulating/governmental agency personnel, patient and visitors.
- Primary body position: Sitting = 25%, Standing/Walking = 75%, Lifting requirements: lab supplies up to 40 lbs. (10%)

- Exposure to environmental conditions: hazardous chemicals, blood/body fluids and airborne diseases (100%)
