Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work on multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems. Projects will focus on design and analysis and will include preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations, as well as the design of power and controls from the ground up. The work will be related to industrial processing facilities, power plants, mining facilities, and municipal water and wastewater facilities. The person in this position will also be responsible for the management of projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and team management to meet clients' needs. The work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with academic coursework focused on power or control systemsAt least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering or industrial organizationKnowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining and/or minerals processing, or chemical production facilitiesWorking knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described aboveComputer skills and familiarity with Microsoft OfficeAbility and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiativeA flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needsProfessional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one yearLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:10+ years of related experienceDemonstrated project organization and management skillsClient-relationship and business-development skillsExperience with AutoCADExperience with SKM Power Tools or E-Tap software for coordination and arc flash studiesExperience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming softwareExperience with start-up/commissioning of industrial projectsA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Reno, Nevada, or Salt Lake City, Utah, offices.Nevada Applicants Only:Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000–$115,000/year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
