- Translates business questions and requirements into ETL (extraction, transformation, and load) and/or data warehouse processes, defining and capturing metadata and rules associated with ETL and/or data warehouse processes.
- Researches and understands source and target data structures, ETL and/or data warehouse processes, and products.
- Maps source system data to target system data model.
- Develops ETL and/or data warehouse processes using organizational ETL and/or data warehouse tools.
- Complies with BI standard operating procedures and institutional data management policies.
- Demonstrates effective knowledge of ETL and/or data warehouse tool architectures, functions, features, and programming languages.
- Provides accurate results that satisfy functional requirements.
- Adheres to organization's design policies including maintaining current documentation.
- Provides troubleshooting for ETL and/or data warehouse artifacts.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), functional owners, and other ITS staff.
- Participates in all phases of ETL tool and/or data warehouse implementation.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills in ensuring ETL and/or data warehouse processes meet functional requirements.
- Performs complex analysis of functional use cases to ensure ETL and/or data warehouse processes meet client needs.
- Provides expertise with respect to source and target data structures ensuring ETL and/or data warehouse processes demonstrate data quality and accuracy.
- Uses ETL and/or data warehouse solutions in a manner that demonstrates advanced competency with tools and procedures and produces ETL and/or data warehouse processes that perform efficiently.
- Solves complex problems, assimilating information rapidly, and working under strict timelines.
- Provides advanced troubleshooting for complex ETL and/or data warehouse processes.
- Identifies and communicates issues and risks in a timely manner.
- Provides advanced ETL and/or data warehouse training, documentation, and second-tier support.
- Lead ETL tool and/or data warehouse implementations.
- Provides expert consultation and comprehensive recommendations by anticipating needs with respect to requirement analysis, level of effort estimation, and project planning.
- Considers broad scope across functional areas when translating functional needs into ETL and/or data warehouse processes.
- Produces high quality ETL and data warehouse processes, including technical requirements, test documentation, system/operations guides, issue/enhancement request documentation.
- Develops guidelines and policies for ETL and/or data warehouse activities.
- Develops guidelines and policies for ETL and/or data warehouse testing.
- Develops enterprise standards for use of ETL tools and metadata throughout the organization.
- Evaluates new and existing ETL and/or data warehouse products and methods.
- Mentors junior staff.
