To provide varied administrative support, primarily maintaining accounting and payroll functions for the department. Responsible for the application of elementary and advanced bookkeeping principles to a variety of transactions in a central accounting system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains and reconciles departmental accounts.
  • Reviews and processes documents including purchase orders, vouchers, deposits, transfer of funds, and other departmental expenditures.
  • Designs and/or executes an effective system of internal controls concerning records retention, storage and destruction.
  • Assists in the researching, gathering and recording of financial data.
  • Assimilates and compiles data using independent judgment in producing final reports.
  • Acts as the unit liaison with other departments and with outside agencies and vendors.
  • Assists and cross-trains with Payroll to maintain time leave usage, employee records, worker's compensation, training and annual appointments for the unit.
  • Preforms other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with one (1) year upper-level administrative assistance experience or High School Diploma/GED with two (2) years of experience in accounts payable or customer service position; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) Years of increasingly responsible experience in accounts payable or similar position; proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and have the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with varied staff and supervisors.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Peoplesoft/UTShare experience is preferred.
