- Assumes responsibility for reviewing tax schedules for the preparation of the U.S. federal, state, international and local government tax returns; including but not limited to income, business tax, sales/use tax and property tax returns.
- Assists with being the primary liaison with the firm’s outside tax advisors, providing information to external accountants with respect to the preparation of U.S. federal, state, and international partnership tax returns.
- Works to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately, and firm procedures are aligned with firm goals and global tax strategy.
- Works with partners and their personal tax accountants throughout the year to answer tax questions related to K-1s and other items while demonstrating an advanced understanding of the firm’s tax reporting and tax planning concepts.
- Oversee, coordinate, and assist with audits as they occur.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining the highest level of confidentiality of all financial and systems-related information.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments and new technologies impacting the department. Research global tax issues using CCH, BNA, and Lexis.
- Leads department project teams designed to streamline workflow and/or resolve issues; assists with various firm and/or departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute multiple complex communication projects.
- Mentor, motivate and train entry-level staff and interns by providing guidance and serving as a professional role model.
- Develop and oversee departmental processes and procedures.
- Strategize with managers regarding tax planning and assessing and mitigating domestic and international tax risk.
- Oversee the research by members of the tax team to determine the impact of having to file in new jurisdictions and summarize our recommendation of that impact for other departments within the firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA, or relevant professional certification preferred.
- 7-10 years of work experience in U.S. and international tax, preferably in a public accounting, law firm or professional services environment.
- Superior computer software skills with a particular expertise in Excel, Microsoft Office, Alteryx, and MicroStrategy.
- Advanced knowledge of 3E, database report writers, and experience with equity partners’ capital and investment partnerships (partnership accounting).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams at all levels.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
