Job Description:Job Summary: Under direct supervision, performs basic clerical accounting tasks requiring knowledge of general bookkeeping principles.Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping skills and financial spreadsheets preferred.Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: N/AEssential Functions: * Conducts routine calculations to post amounts to ledger accounts or institutional forms.
  • Maintains and tracks ledger accounts, communicates account status to authorized faculty and staff, assigns account numbers.
  • Assists in preparing financial compilations and statements by performing basic calculations.
  • Reviews accounts and forms, notes and corrects basic fiscal irregularities.
  • Assists in reconciling bank statements.
  • Handles cash and checks deposits, matches deposit slips with documentation, submits drafts for fund transfer.
  • Assists in preparing for audits as required.
  • Prepares simple reports as directed.
  • May act as a cashier by accepting payments and providing change for customers.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
Skills/Qualifications: Proficient in English, able to follow instructions, and familiar with Word, Excel, and Outlook. Organized with the ability to make independent decisions. Works efficiently and independently, taking initiative to solve problems. Self-motivated, adaptable to department needs, committed to high customer service standards. Communicates effectively with various stakeholders.Work Environment: Clean, comfortable office space.Physical Requirements: Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, and seeing.
