- Perform processing procedures related to fabrication of materials.
- Read blueprints, plans, instructions, and component specifications
- Develop assembly processes to fabricate composite components
- Assemble composite parts and components
- Responsible for the handling, storage and appropriate usage of resin in the production area
- Responsible for monitoring process parameters (temperature, time, pressure, etc.)
- Support the processing of product samples for customers from our new processing line
- Work with customers to better understand their processing issues and limitations to develop solutions
- Work with resin developers on development of resin systems and processing that are needed to support the On-Demand materials platforms
- Support internal machine processing setups and proofouts as well as onsite installations
- Coordinate and execute product trials and demonstrations at customer facilities
- Work closely with sales team to make test samples and provide technical feedback needed for developing new or improved materials and processes for part fabrication
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and process specifications.
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience, a background and knowledge in composite materials and processes (graphite/polyimide, graphite /epoxy, graphite/bismaleimide, thermoplastics, adhesives) used in all composites markets and applications
- Be comfortable in a shop environment and have basic assembly skills and experience with basic electrical wiring.
- Must have experience with composite manufacturing techniques including resin mixing TowPreg processing, resin formulation, development, and testing (thermal, mechanical and/or chemical characterization)
- Familiarity with filament winding, Part fabrication using TowPreg and Prepregs, resin mixing and handling.
- Prior experience with direct customer interactions in a technical role
- Must be familiar with safe chemical handling practices and common laboratory safety procedures.
- Knowledge of industry practices and standards, with a particular focus on the process development, production and testing of composite prepreg materials
- Must be strong in communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability
- Significant hands-on experience and technical background related to working in both laboratories and manufacturing environments
