">Statement of the Job:The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a Part-Time Faculty member in Graphic Design and Digital Photography, for our undergraduate Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program.This role is specifically tailored for an educator with a passion for graphic design and digital media, capable of delivering high-quality instruction in online modalities. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creative skills, technical proficiency across industry-aligned tools, and a commitment to fostering the next generation of graphic design professionals in a virtual learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Teaching: Design and deliver engaging online courses in graphic design and or digital photography, incorporating demo sessions, pre-recorded lectures, and interactive assignments. Utilize the Learning Mangement platform and tools to provide an enriching learning experience.Curriculum Development: Work collaboratively with the Graphic Design lead faculty and program advisor to develop and update the graphic design curriculum, ensuring it reflects current industry standards, techniques, and trends. Incorporate digital literacy and design thinking into distance course content.Student Support: Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and projects. Offer virtual office hours and support sessions to assist students with their academic and professional development. Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to measure student learning outcomes. Provide input on program evaluations and accreditation processes.Exhibition and Program Support: Participate in supporting student exhibitions and departmental events. Contribute to the promotion of the Studio Arts program through active engagement in academic and artistic communities.Professional Development: Maintain an active professional practice in graphic design or related fields. ">Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Graphic Design or a closely related discipline (or currently enrolled in an accredited program).
  • Proven experience in teaching graphic design courses at the college or university level, particularly in online or hybrid formats.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic design, digital media, and visual communication.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, as well as accessible free/low-cost alternatives, and familiarity with online learning management systems (LMS) and digital collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students in a virtual learning environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with teaching utilizing a Learning Management System.
