The Senior Planner at Port Everglades is responsible for assisting with the execution, development and implementation of the Planning Section's work, projects and studies. This position serves as the principal professional and technical resource person for activities that support that the Port's planning goals and objectives are being achieved and thoroughly coordinated with local, regional and state partners and plans in an effort to obtain funding for capital projects.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning or closely related field.Requires two (2) years responsible professional planning experience including two (2) years of lead work/supervisory experience depending upon area of assignment.Special Certifications and Licenses RequiredAbility to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a valid Port Security Identification Badge for the duration of employment.Preferences Additional degree (BS/MS) in related field
Advanced degree in planning or related field
Current Professional planner certification (i.e. AICP)
Current Professional Port Manager (PPM) certification and/or Certified Project Manager (CPM/PMP) related to urban planning
2+ years' experience in grant writing
2 +years' experience in land use and/or environmental planning
4+ years' experience in marine/seaport planning
3+ years' experience in transportation planning and/or airport planning
Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication abilities
