Enviro-Assist, Ltd is a fast growing engineering and consulting company in the field of onsite water and wastewater systems. We need an observant, energetic, and analytical person to either fill the entry level career track position of Environmental Inspector Trainee, or an experienced individual to come in as an Environment Inspector.This is an exciting position of highly diverse activities and responsibilities both in the office and in the field. While advancing to the inspector level, the successful candidate will assist senior personnel with inspections of onsite water and wastewater systems. Field work is comprised of data gathering, documentation, water sampling, and interpretation of observations. Rigorous physical activity is necessary for the data gathering process, including regular use of common and specialized hand tools for locating and exposing underground structures. Occasional very heavy lifting is also expected. Office activities will include due diligence research, simple drafting and CAD work, and miscellaneous clerical functions.Advancement will be based on the Trainee’s ability to perform inspection related duties independently, analyze and interpret field observations, and communicate effectively with clients. Pay increases are based on performance, with reviews at 1, 3 and 6 months from hire date. Advancement opportunities include Inspector, Systems Evaluator, and Systems Designer.This position will have exposure to clients and must convey the professional image of Enviro-Assist, Ltd. by way of appearance, communication, and behavior. Applicants must be physically capable of performing the duties, be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license. A Bachelors degree is preferred but not required.Requirements:
  • Physical Requirements
  • Frequent Heavy lifting
  • Example: Lift 100 lbs of concrete out of a 3ft hole, for example
  • You must have fairly high Strength and Endurance, to be doing physical work for a full work day when needed
  • Able to use heavy tools. For example:
  • Using an auger for extracting soil samples
  • Sending Probes 4-6 feet deep, with a steel rod
  • Any knowledge in the following is helpful:
  • Hydrodynamics
  • Biology
  • Soil Science
  • Water testing, soil testing
Education:
  • Bachelors degree preferred. For example:
  • Environmental Sciences is best; that's a great background/focus for this role
  • Geology degree
  • Other science backgrounds can be useful
Schedule:
  • Typically 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Weekend work is very rare; work is typically contained Monday through Friday.
Pay:
  • Something around $17/hour starting, with a raise/review after just 30 days, bumped up $1-2/hour every few months as you progress and learn
  • Company vehicle most days
  • Territory: SE Michigan, all over - the busier the more we stay close to the office
  • Inspectors: $50-60k salary once you're trained and up to speed
