St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.St. Charles Community College seeks a full-time Maintenance Assistant who will perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, modification and repair activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Electrical - replaces light bulbs, light switches, ballast and receptacles.
  • Plumbing - rebuilds toilet and urinal flush valves, rebuilds and replace faucets, replaces wax rings, gaskets, toilet seats, unclog drains and toilets.
  • Carpentry - minor repair of furniture, replace and or adjust doorknobs, closers and hinges.
  • HVAC- assists adjust thermostats, cleans coils and replace filters.
  • General - hangs signs, pictures and banners, moves furniture, performs set-ups/teardowns and minor painting.
  • Performs routine and non-routine preventative maintenance.
  • Performs courier services.
  • Assists with emergency duties such as snow removal, snow shoveling, salting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical certifications required
  • Knowledge and expertise in areas of carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing
  • Six months experience in maintenance and repairs, internal and external building maintenance
  • Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, light maintenance duties preferred
  • Must be able to use hand tools, hammers, screwdrivers, saws, electric tools, drills; be able to read voltage meters
