Position: Pre-Award Grants Manager
Location: Evanston HospitalFull Time
Hours: Standard business hours, Mon-Fri OnsiteWhat you will do:
- Sponsor Submission Policies and Guidelines
- Review, communicate and apply sponsor submission guidelines and policies from relevant funding agencies to investigators and research unit staff during the preparation and coordination of research proposal development. Maintains expertise and knowledge of changing sponsor policies (e.g., NIH salary cap, indirect cost rate limitations, sponsor budget limitations, etc) and communicate those policies to investigators and research unit staff.
- Application Receipt
- Manage the receipt, triage and tracking of research applications to the Research Institute, maintaining tracking logs of applications under review, associated submission deadlines, and items required for resolution and submission. Communicate with investigators, research unit staff and OSP team members to ensure on-time submission of applications or other time-sensitive material.
- Application Review
- Reviews research funding applications to ensure compliance with organizational and sponsor policies and guidelines, including budget and financial guidelines. This includes sub-grantee submissions and consultant agreements. Collaborates with research unit staff and investigators to resolve any application items preventing on-time submission.
- Award Receipt, Tracking and Negotiation
- Receives and logs any sponsored awards received by the Research Institute. Reviews and negotiates the terms and conditions of any grant or contract agreements received by the Research Institute. Collaborates with the Office of Clinical Research, Legal, Research Integrity and other organizational units as necessary to successful complete negotiations of specific terms.
- Activity Management and Analysis
- Provides regular updates of submission and award activity to RI leadership and any trends or changes of significance.
- Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluates current OSP processes related to grant submissions and management to identify areas of improvement and offer suggestions and solutions to those areas. Once solutions are identified and approved, acts as lead change agent to implement those solutions.
- Bachelors Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- 5 years in Pre-Award Grants Management
- 5 years of Grants Management experience at an Academic Medical Center or Health System
