- Working in the ‘Manufacturers & Airline’ product tower and part of a team of 12, you will be asked to help retain our products liability business as well as grow the business in our CORE areas (component products, 2nd & 3rd tier manufacturers)
- Gather, analyze and evaluate aviation risk exposure through appropriate risk documentation. Be flexible to changing risk appetites.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of: policy forms, endorsements, coverages, rating plans, underwriting guidelines and general market conditions in the selection and pricing of individual risks.
- Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification while maintaining high accuracy of information and adhering to company underwriting standards.
- Answer incoming requests from brokers and agents responding to inquiries on submissions, coverage and certificate requests.
- Conduct outbound communication and follow-up work to brokers and agents required to close out inquiries and all business transactions.
- Work within specific authority level to quote, accept, decline, modify and renew risks in accordance with accepted underwriting guidelines. Work with management and senior management to seek higher underwriting authority when working outside personal authority levels.
- Have a thorough understanding of the company issued underwriting manual.
- Make adjustments to policy information based upon prescribed authority for various lines of business.
- Work in unison with other departments, business development and account managers to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
- Provide guidance to other departments regarding various underwriting criteria when needed to effectively cross sell opportunities.
- Effectively communicate underwriting appetite to brokers and agents.
- Reinforce the ease of doing business with AIG by meeting or exceeding expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Communicate openly and in a timely fashion.
- Participate in the development of team goals and work diligently to achieve them. Support all team decisions.
- Conduct broker and agent visits as required.
- Assist underwriters and staff for positive growth and team cohesiveness.
- Visit all assigned agents on a monthly basis. Travel is required up to 25% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Aviation specialization preferred.
- Private pilot’s license preferred
- Preferred knowledge in Major Products, and/or Component Products, Airports and Airport Service providers
- Demonstrate general proficiency in desktop tools and underwriting systems
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and peers.
